Gyóni Géza szobra Sopronban a Deák téren. Az irodalomtörténet általában gyenge epigonként jellemzi munkásságát, de művei rendkívül népszerűek voltak az első világháború alatt és után. Költészete végigkíséri a háborút a kezdeti támogatástól az elutasításig a pusztítás láttán.

Sculpture of Geza Gyoni, poet of the first world war. Literaturs don't look him as an original poet but as an epigon but he was quite popular during and after the war. He supported the war at the beginning of it but turned against it watching the horror in Poland and in captivity in Siberia. In his most popular poem he wants all the supporters of the war, the wannabe heros, usurers, superpatriots spend just one night in the first line where the people of Hungary dies day by day.
Sopron and it's area lost quite a lot of people, the 76th and the 18th regiments lost 26.089 dead.
