A nurse has been fired from a Sopron hospital for giving a patient diluted formaldehyde to drink. The patient, an elderly local woman, was waiting for an operation, and should have been given bowel cleansing liquid. When the patient complained of stomach pain, she was told to drink the liquid - which apparently has no medicinal uses - a little more slowly, and was not attended by a doctor until several hours later. The woman is still experiencing stomach pains and can only eat pureed foods.
